Beale (McKechnie Section 2)

Known from an album seen by Mr A. Wyldes, containing a number of unmounted painted full-length silhouettes, including many of seated subjects. Some of these silhouettes are obviously by the same band and are signed 'Beale'. These examples date from c. 1840. In many cases the detail of the sitter's costume is coloured.

The miniaturist Anne Beale (fl. c. 1821; listed by Foskett) is unlikely to have been responsible for these silhouettes. Possibly these silhouettes were amateur work.
