McKechnie records two cut silhouettes signed ‘R.W. Barnes’ and dated 1842. They are bust-length, simply cut and roughly embellished in gold. She suggests that this Barnes may have been the Edward Barnes recorded as an artist of painted silhouettes of a similar period. However, there is no evidence to support this, or indeed to tell anything of R W Barnes’ life or career.
