In the entry on William Miers (q.v.) I put forward a theory that Charles Hervé not only made copies but also produced original work for this son of John Miers, after he had parted company with John Field. Hervé is included in this Section by virtue of a fine copy of the silhouette of a woman painted, probably by John Field, at John Miers' studio. The original was probably painted on plaster in c. 1794; Field's style has been faithfully rendered in the copy. Hervé also executed silhouettes, painted on card, for ‘Prosopographus, the Automaton Artist' (q.v.).
