Three 'portraits', sent in to the Royal Academy by Hervé from 145 Strand, London, 1841-43, are listed by Graves and Foskett. The sitters of two of these were J. D. Wilkinson and Thomas Wilkins, head of the East India Company. Foskett does not state whether these portraits were painted on card or on ivory; I think that they were probably on card, since there is no evidence that Hervé painted on ivory. Any examples which come to light are likely to date from c. 1837-47, since it was during this period that Hervé is known to have used a studio for the production of silhouettes.
