Marius Horsefall is known from a single example of his work, painted on card. Its appearance suggests he was working during the early 1830s. It is painted in gum Arabic against a dark grey background and bears some similarities to the work of J H Gillespie. However, the bustline termination is almost straight and the gum Arabic is less skilfully applied. The silhouette is signed on the reverse.
