Introduction:

JH Wiffen is known solely from one silhouette recorded by Jackson in the Dictionary, which depicts Frederick James Post of Islington as a boy. It is signed by the artist but the dates recorded by Jackson, ‘born 1819, d. 1855’, could refer either to artist or sitter.
