Woodiwiss recorded 10 profiles he had seen, attributed to a Bernard Walsh, with two signed “B.Walsh, Edinburgh”. According to contemporary directories, Walsh lived in Edinburgh and Leith at various addresses during the period 1821-1834, and gave his occupation as “Miniature and Profile painter”. Walsh worked on card in black paint, or in a dark brown colour. He enhanced his work with Indian ink and colour. Woodiwiss records that the bust-lines are “unusually flat”. Unfortunately, no examples of his work are currently known.
