Campione is known solely through the trade label of another silhouette artist, Taylor, on which he declared himself 'Successor to Campione'. Perhaps it was a point of pride to have this status, which suggests that Campione was a skilled artist. Given that Taylor was working in Oxford around 1820, some have assumed that Campione was working in the city at an earlier date. However, no actual examples of his work have yet been found. As Taylor is known to have worked on glass, it seems likely that Campione also did so.
