Crammer, Job Joseph A. (McKechnie Section 3)

Known from one silhouette of a woman from a group of nine silhouettes, all of members of one family and most of them by unknown artists, with the exception of one other example by G. M. Mather (see Section Two) of Edinburgh. Possibly Crammer too was a Scottish artist. The example was signed and dated 1821. It was painted in black on slightly convex glass, backed with wax, and was in a papier mâché frame. A sepia transparency was used for the details of the sitter's dress, though most of the profile was in plain black. The silhouette was inscribed on the reverse Job Joseph A. Crammer/Profile and Miniature Painter, 1821.'
