Among the categories of profile which Crowhurst offers on Trade Label No. 3 are profiles in 'cameo and colours'. Profiles of the former type would have been painted en grisaille on ivory; those of the latter type would probably have been painted on card. I have seen no example of either type. Crowhurst could paint well on ivory (see Section Five), and his en grisaille work would probably be of good quality. Examples in either category would probably date from the 1830s, when Crowhurst was working at 40 Old Steine, Brighton (the address on Trade Label No. 3).
