Recorded by Jackson (Dictionary) with an address at 2 Wardour Street, London, taken from a trade label. It is possible that Hill later managed Hill's Gallery (qv; this Section). It is also possible that Manner was W. H. Manners (q.v.). Foskett records two artists named Manners, but Jackson gives no date for Manner and Hill and no artist named Hill, recorded by Foskett, seems to have been working at a time to suggest that he was the partner who worked with Manner. The trade label recorded by Jackson reads: 'Cut with a Patent Machine, profile portrait with glass and gilt frame Is.'
