Jackson’s ‘Dictionary’ records a Mackintosh apparently producing silhouettes from an address in St Andrew Street, Edinburgh in the 19th century. She gives no examples of their work. McKechnie has suggested that this entry may refer to Daniel Mackintosh, a carver, gilder and print-seller but not silhouette artist resident at St Andrew Street at a similar time.
