Recorded by Jackson (Dictionary), who dates him to the nineteenth century and gives an address in St Andrew Street, Edinburgh. The following dates and addresses (from the City Library, Edinburgh) refer to Daniel Mackintosh, a carver, gilder and print-seller: 1799-1811, 15 South St Andrew Street; 1811-17, 16 St Andrew Street; 1817-23, 49 Princes Street.
It is possible that Jackson had found a profile bearing a label which was used by the Mackintosh who was the gilder at 16 St Andrew Street, but who did not produce silhouettes.
