Introduction:

Interestingly, no original work by Molineux has been discovered. He is only known from a silhouette print in the Elliott Levy Collection. This bust-length print of the Reverend D Simpson was engraved and states that the original was “drawn by Mr Molineux”. It is framed in ebonised wood with gilt decoration.
