reverse, 'Oscar Lenner, 1813'. It is possible that Lenner was a Continental artist who worked in this country for a short time as a profilist. Mr Pollak states that the two profiles were painted on flat glass and backed with green silk. Examples by the Irish artist, C. H. Sandhegan (q.v.), have been described as being backed with green silk, but are in fact painted on greenish glass and backed with white silk. This may, in fact, have been the technique used by Lenner.
