Introduction:

Master Lynass is recorded in Jackson’s ‘Dictionary’ as a cutter of silhouettes, active in the 19th century. One example of his work is described; a cut silhouette of a man, bearing a printed label. This read: “A Portrait by Master Lynass, in 20 seconds without drawing or machine”. No examples of his work are currently known.
