Known from two silhouettes described to me by a fellow-collector, both signed ‘Chas. Osborn’. Both sitters are women and one of the silhouettes is inscribed ‘Sarah, Harrogate, 6th August, 1833’.
Foskett records C. Osborne (or Osborn), of Norwich, who exhibited at the Royal Academy and other institutions 1822-25. Graves lists six exhibits at the Royal Academy, one exhibit at Suffolk Street; he gives the years as 1821-25. It seems possible that this was the same artist as the profilist.
The examples were described to me as being painted in black on card, and embellished with gold paint. They were in papier mâché frames.
