Charles Osborne was a relatively successful artist who appears to have produced silhouettes as a sideline. He was born in Norwich around the beginning of the 19th century, and made a living as an artist; in his lifetime his work was shown at the Royal Academy six times. His silhouette pieces appear to be slightly less accomplished than his other artwork. A small number of examples are known. They are simply painted in black on card and embellished with gold paint. They were presented in papier-mache frames typical of the time.
