Introduction:

McKechnie records two silhouettes cut by G O’Donnell, both signed and dated by the artist to 1841. The sitters have been identified as Georgina Maria Muney and Katherine Elizabeth Muney. The silhouettes are three-quarter length and cut in plain black. The bust-line terminates in a sharp peak at the back, with scalloped lines near the front. They are framed in rectangular, blackened wood. The style is typical for the period and the pieces are of rather average quality. Nothing else is known of this artist.
