Recorded as a painter by Woodiwiss (notes), who may have seen a signed silhouette. Davies possibly may have been the American profilist J. H. Davies (see Appendix 5). There is insufficient evidence to identify Davies with any of the artists named Davis or Davies listed by Foskett.
