Percival was recorded as an artist and gallery owner in Jackson’s ‘Dictionary’. This is based on the evidence of six handbills and advertisements which appear to refer to the same artist or institution, identified in some as ‘Percival’. One advertisement uniquely identified to Percival offers profiles painted in oil – the other handbills offer profiles of unspecified technique for one shilling. Their low price indicates plain cut profiles. No silhouettes produced by Percival have been identified and nothing more of his career, or that of his supposed gallery, are known.
