Drawn to my attention by Mr W. E. Fox-Smith, who had acquired two silhouettes signed by this artist. The sitters (both apparently in their early teens) are Georgina Maria Muney and Katherine Elizabeth Muney. Each silhouette is inscribed with the date 1841.
The silhouettes, which are three-quarter length, are cut in plain black. In each case the bust-line terminates in a sharp peak at the back, with scalloped lines near the front, following the shape of the sleeve which was fashionable at this time.
The frames were rectangular and of wood, stained black. The silhouettes were signed on the back 'G. A. O'Donnell, 1841'.
