Fox, E. J. (McKechnie Section 1)

Recorded by Jackson (Dictionary) who gives the date 1855 and mentions that Fox produced cut work. It is possible, though it seems unlikely, that the artist was John Fox, a minor miniature painter who occasionally exhibited at the Royal Academy 1830-46, and later from 77 Cheapside, London. Lack of success as a painter of miniatures may have led Fox later to cut silhouettes, although, if he really produced them as late as 1855, he would probably have received few commissions, since, by this date, demand was lessening. Jackson describes his work as poor.
