Mrs Geist Dolin is a silhouette artist about whom virtually nothing is known, even her nationality. She may have been a British citizen who was married to a foreign resident or a foreign national, probably Dutch. The only silhouette attributed to Mrs Dolin is painted in the circular style of Torond and has a shadow line under the bust of the subject, which was uncommon of the era of 1777-78. The shadow line as well as the circular shape of Dolin’s work could be used as means of determining other works.
