Introduction:

LUCY MARIA SHERWILL nee LIND (1782-1858), the eldest surviving daughter of Dr. James Lind (1736-1812) a celebrated scientist, inventor and Physician to the Court of George III at Windsor,would spend her youth there.Though never working commercially and obviously influenced by her father, himself an enhusiastic amateur profilist, a sizable number of skilfully cut profiles by her of the Royal Family, Court circle and others were bequeathed by one of her sons to Scotland's Society of Antiquaries in 1877.
