Introduction:

Jackson records the work of Miss Everitt in her ‘Dictionary’. This apparently included profiles of Sir James Edward Smith, the botanist and founder of the Linnean Society and Lilly Wigg, who contributed to Smith's ‘English Botany’. Both pieces are described as cut from brown paper and inscribed “Cut by Miss Everitt, September, 1807”. Nothing else is known of Miss Everitt’s life or career, and no examples of her work have been positively attributed by modern collectors.
