Brian Wellings has long been an enthusiastic silhouette collector, in equal measure admiring of the artistry showcased in the work and driven to explore the personal circumstances of those who made profiles.

Using today’s online resources, Brian assembles biographical details to enhance the information in Sue McKechnie’s pivotal reference work of 1978, ‘British Silhouette Artists 1760-1860’, and to bring to light new artists never before recorded.
