Foskett records two water-colour portraits in profile, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, attributed to Foster. She also illustrates a well-painted portrait (3₇⁄₈ in. high, on ivory) of an old woman, signed on the reverse 'Edward Foster/York' and dated 1803. If this is by the same Edward Foster, it seems strange that an artist capable of such good work in full colour on ivory should have spent so many years in painting silhouettes.
