Introduction:

Hill’s Gallery is known today through the existence of three profiles, on which the signature is recorded. They are very similar in style being cut from black paper, and embellished in gold. On the bust-length profile, the termination is a long sloping line. Jackson’s Dictionary recorded an artist called Hill, but it is possible this was in fact Hills Gallery.
